Sheikha Lubna Welcomes Delegates to Event
Dubai, UAE - 10 November 2008 - The Business in Dubai conference and exhibition was opened today by Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi the UAE Minister of Foreign Trade. Business in Dubai (BiD) is the first event in the United Arab Emirates that provides information on how to conduct business in Dubai efficiently and cost-effectively to the 320 registered delegates.
In her keynote speech the minister called Dubai a beacon of light for business and investment that in less than half a century emerged as a dynamic international business centre, attracting a host of renowned companies and prominent entrepreneurs.
"Dubai means business and business means Dubai. The opportunities are here all it takes is for forward thinking organizations and individuals to take a step forward and avail of the numerous prospects the emirate holds" stated Sheikha Lubna.
During the past years Dubai has become a centre for foreign investments and international companies are seeking regional and global development and expansion opportunities. Dubai's regulatory framework bypasses corporate and income tax, poses no restrictions on capital repatriation and does not espouse foreign exchange controls, trade barriers or quotas according to Sheikha Lubna.
The emirate also leads the region in construction and real estate and hosted more than 8.8 million tourists in 2007 a figure that is expected to reach 10 million by 2008.
On an international scale, the World Trade Organization ranks the UAE as on the top 30 trading countries in the world, strategically positioned near burgeoning markets of Central Asia, Europe, Southern Asia, India and China.
BiD's first day will focus on Dubai, the economic miracle, legal requirements and how to hire talent. The all in one venue for conducting business in Dubai will be running at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel for two consecutive days.
Sheila Bibi, the organizer of Business in Dubai commented: "Business in Dubai wants to ensure that companies wanting to set up in the UAE have the information they need to start their business as fast as possible."
